The East Midlands Retro Computing Archive is dedicated to preserving the history of computing technologies, showcasing the innovative milestones that have shaped the digital age. Join us as we explore the roots of modern computing and celebrate the legacy of retro technologies.
Located within the School of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham, the Archive pays homage to the history of computing, while surrounded by the research and teaching that seeks to advance the state of the art and support the next generation of practitioners.
Our display of devices is maintained by Prof. Steven Furnell and Dr Steven Bagley, with items drawn from their personal collections, as well as items donated by those kind enough to pass them on to us to take care of.
The display items are accompanied by a gallery of computing pioneers, reflecting individuals of international and historical renown, alongside key individuals from our own local history - as also reflected in our Ada Lovelace Computer Science Laboratory, recognising one of the earliest pioneers of computing, who also has a local connection.
